Assessment choices
Not every assessment in schools has to be test or an essay. Some other choices:
- plan and organise an event,
- require a creative work,
- write an autobiography,
- create a banner,
- write a book review,
- create a brochure,
- write a cartoon series,
- make a collage,
- conduct a debate or courtroom trial,
- make a video
- create a Website (or blog or wiki)
- play the stockmarket (or forex) with “virtual” money
I’ve had students who said (when faced with these choices), “Just give us a test. It takes less time.”
