Bilingual Fridays
I wrote an article a few years ago on Bilingualism in Politics.
The post gets a lot of hits from people who are looking for the search phrase “bilingualism in politics”. I was looking at the Google Analytics data for the article and noticed something odd. There is a periodic surge of traffic for the page.
Traffic for Bilingualism in Politics.
Every one of those peaks in traffic occurs on a Friday and it has been going on for months.
Now, why are people interested in this topic on a Friday more than any other day of the week? Is it a religious thing? Or perhaps this is the kind of assignment topic that lecturers like to give on a Friday so their students can work on it over the weekend?
Any other plausible suggestions?

it is for an assignment for Axia college.
Investigate the official language movement (an important Hispanic American cultural interest) described on pp. 243-44 of the text by researching bilingualism in education and politics in the United States. Find 4 to 6 credible Web sites or articles that support, oppose, or simply present information about bilingualism in education or politics. Most sources will focus exclusively on either topic of education or politics, so try to find at least two sources per topic.

In axia college the curriculum is set in stone that way no matter what instructor you have you will get this assignment due on friday on the seventh week of your class. Since they have classes starting everyweek that means every week it is someones seventh week and yeah most of us wait till the last minute to do the assignments

Axia did change the curriculum and now the assignment is due on Thursday but I am a day late.

haha I too am from axia and am doing my assignment the day of… maybe now that axia has changed the curriculum to this assignment being due on a thursday you will have to change the title of your mystery. or just say mystery solved. =)

I am also with Axia College and the assignement is due Thursday but I unfortunately am turning it in a day late on FRIDAY!! That is why I bet!!

I also have this assignment and this website is very informative. It is funny that you actually tracked that information. The large student base for Axia will affect any statistics for a website.

I am in ETH 125 and it is due on a Friday, my wife is enrolled in the same class with a different instructor and hers was due on Wednesday, so they are mixing it up a little bit.

Too funny! I’m in the same class and am turning this paper in a day late. It’s funny to see that that is where the majority of people looking at this page are doing as well. I’m in good company!

Honestly, the cycle is changing because we have “work” and “participation” weeks. Because the classes are only two at a time, the “work” week in one means it will be a “participation” week in the other. This means that generally speaking, they are scheduled around each other to reduce the workload to help students produce their best work with the most flexible schedule. While this does not mean that every assignment is due on different days, it does mean that some are scheduled that way. So, this bigger assignment is due in the middle of the week in my current set of classes, and for other students that class is run a little differently.
