Friday Math Movie – PeakWater
Would you buy a house in a region where the water is expected to run out sometime soon?
Twenty percent of the world is desert, and that proportion is growing every day. There are too many of us over-using water, and rampant forest destruction adds to the problem.
This week’s movie talks about the increasing water crisis in the southwest USA and considers the possibility that we are approaching “peakwater”. And it’s not only in the richest country in the world, the same situation is happening all over.
Next time you are taking a long shower, think about whether it might be a good idea to save some for your future drinking needs.
