Friday Math movie – Powerup Game

This week’s movie is a trailer for the environmental PowerUp game from IBM and TryScience/New York Hall of Science. From the PowerUp game blurb:

  • Save Planet Helios from ecological devastation!
  • Exciting, 3D, action-strategy game
  • Meet new friends
  • Download and Play for FREE

The download is quite big and you need a pretty high-end machine to play it.

From Computerworld:

The game, which can be played alone or in groups, features a planet in near ecological ruin where three missions for solar, wind and water power must be solved before sandstorms, floods or SmogGobs overtake the planet. To do that, players need to become virtual engineers who create energy-saving technologies.

So, go save this virtual planet. It might even give you some ideas on how to save our real one…

And it needs math to achieve workable solutions.
