This week’s movie from the University of Minnesota has attracted over 1.5 million views on YouTube.

It probably makes more sense if you have seen the movie The Watchmen, but it is still an interesting analysis and has some nice math, like composite trigonometric curves (adding 2 sine curves that are out of sync so that they cancel themselves out).

Here is an interview with Elizabeth Giorgi from University of Minnesota on the popularity of Science of Watchmen. There are screen shots of the YouTube statistics for the movie (views over time, peak in viewership interest and so on).

There’s some interesting math and statistics involved here.
