Lawn is over-rated
Australian TV on cable has an interesting series about Australians living in other countries.
The first programme was centred on New York, and interviewed James Wolfensohn (who was President of the World Bank, 1995 to 2005), Professor David Brown (Chief of Cardiology State University of New York, who was involved in pioneer work using stents instead of surgery for heart bypass cases), and various artists and media people who were born in Australia.
My favourite comment by one of the artists, when asked about raising children in New York:
Lawn is over-rated. What children need is a good cafe, from a very young age.
There are about 300,000 Australians working overseas – and I’m one of them.
