Mine’s bigger than yours
The Asian Aerospace / Asian Defence Technology event at Changi today was more disturbing than enjoyable.
What is it with this crazy world? Governments and revolutionaires are willing to pay billions for incredibly sophisticated weapons. If the wealthy countries (especially the US) took only 10% of what they spend on military hardware and spent it on poverty reduction, education and health in the poorer countries, there would be far less international tension.

Am I glad this weaponry is protecting me? I have to be honest and say yes, but I’d be much happier if it was not necessary. Give peace a chance.
I couldn’t help wondering how many deals were being done today where country A buys military hardware from country B and then in 5 or maybe 10 years’ time, that hardware will be used against country B. It’s happened to America many times.
It’s sad that so many fortunes are made by selling arms. ‘Twas ever thus, I guess.
