Music is Math - Boards of Canada
This week’s Friday math movie is a calming thought piece from the Scottish group, Boards of Canada.
According to YouTube’s blurb, this movie consists of:
…video sampled from “The Big Bounce”, “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” and amateur film footage of the 1939 New York World’s Fair.
The sound track is a moody electronic soundscape reminiscent of the early synthesizer stuff I used to write. According to Wikipedia’s Boards of Canada page:
Their music is reminiscent of the warm, scratchy, artificial sounds of 1970s television. Their music contains recurring themes of childhood and nostalgia. Michael and Marcus admit to being inspired by the documentary films of the National Film Board of Canada, from which the group’s name is derived.
I’m not quite sure why it is titled “Music is Math”, but whatever. Here you go:
