Second Life providing a new reality for the disabled

This is a great article from CBC News on Second Life.

After an intro explaining what Second Life is about and how to make money on it selling virtual shoes, the interesting bit is the part about Simon, the cerebral palsy sufferer.

Simon Stevens has set up a nightclub in Second Life called “Wheelies”. His life is transformed because he can socialise and dance in there, something that is impossible for him in the real word. My favourite part of the video is when he dances with wheelchair still attached.

Here is a short BBC article on Wheelies: Staying in is the new going out.

I took a look in Wheelies (it was deserted) and the Second Life Disability Art Gallery which is nearby. Go take a look and consider buying some art.
