The Incredibles
Good animation, good story, good movie. Very James Bond-ish, with rocket launching facilities hidden in a tropical island and all.
Recommended for its range of issues - gender roles, teenage angst, competitiveness, tall poppy syndrome, family, (human) monsters can be created, putting vulnerable people down, etc.
Oh, and seeing it in digital format was awesome. I will always choose digital over film.

Being an ardent movie-goer, I can’t help but noticed that many Pixar productions are of very, very good quality, i.e. interesting characters, good storyline, great animations, intelligent and with a great sense of humour. I’ve seen most of Pixar’s feature cartoon films - A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 1, Finding Nemo, Monster Inc and this one. There’s also a short cartoon called ‘For the Birds’ which is not shown shown on the big screen, but shown in digital/LCD/plasma TVs displayed at electrical/electronic goods shops at shopping centres. It’s incredibly funny, a collaboration work from Pixar and another company I can’t remember. But I loved all of them so far. Not sure if the coming Pixar cartoon, Cars, is just as good. I saw the preview, but didn’t quite like it. Maybe too early to judge. We’ll have to wait and see.
I must say while watching The Incredibles in the cinema, I found a close resemblance of their characters to those in the up-and-coming film, Fantastic Four (as a little boy, I already loved them) - Mr Incredibles vs The Thing, Elasticgirl vs Mr Fantastic, Violet vs The Invisible Girl and Mr Frozone vs The Human Torch. The other characters, Dash resembles The Flash in The Justice League and the morphing baby vs Mystique in X-men.
I also gatherered that the Fantastic Four production crew decided to reshoot some of their scenes after watching The Incredibles. Wow ! That’s how much influential power this cartoon commands in the entertainment world. Walt Disney better watch out - a tough rival has finally emerged !

And oh, on the issue of plagiarism, would Marvel Comics not sue Pixar for infringement of their ideas ? Hmmm ….
